Hot Sale.\u003c\/p\u003e","products":[{"product_id":"a-katazome-dyed-hemp-childs-historical-garment-kataginu","title":"A Katazome Dyed Hemp Child's Historical Garment: Kataginu","description":"\u003cp\u003eca. early twentieth century\u003cbr\u003e\n21\" x 22\", 53.25 cm x 56 cm\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eAs may be easily recognized from the accompanying photos of this indigo, \u003ci\u003ekatazome \u003c\/i\u003edyed hemp \u003ci\u003ekataginu\u003c\/i\u003e, it is the top half of a \u003ci\u003ekamishimo\u003c\/i\u003e, the traditional costume of samurai and courtiers in Edo Japan.  Along with a \u003ci\u003ehakama\u003c\/i\u003e, a kind of loose fitting, pleated skirt-like trousers, the \u003ci\u003ekataginu\u003c\/i\u003e would have been worn over a kimono.\u003cbr\u003e\n\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThis is a small scale \u003ci\u003ekataginu\u003c\/i\u003e and judging from its lack of wear and its crisp, clear hemp cloth, this was probably not made and worn during the Edo period (1603-1868), but rather it was probably used in some kind of historical pageant or parade, as a costume.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eTrue, the dyeing is expert and just as it would have been during Edo, but the overall quality of the garment feels to date to about 100 years ago or less.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe small repeat pattern is of the type that was popular during the Edo period and is called \u003ci\u003eEdo komon. \u003c\/i\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eA beautifully fashioned, traditional Japanese garment.\u003cbr\u003e\n\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\n\u003c\/p\u003e\n","brand":"Sri","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":68158765531325,"sku":"wcs1793955879528","price":36.85,"currency_code":"USD","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0777\/5053\/4333\/files\/a-katazome-dyed-hemp-childs-historical-garment-kataginu_1.jpg?v=1793955885"}],"url":"https:\/\/mileskeenstore.shop\/collections\/katazome.oembed","provider":"My Store","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
